When you feel your worst, one simple gesture can turn your day around. And what better gesture than from the one you care most about? Pay attention to the small things. They always mean the most.

I woke up in pure hell. I felt so terrible. My head hurt and as I tried to stand up, I immediately fell down because of the nauseous feel in my stomach. God, I wanted to throw up so badly. I didn't want to call in a maid so I left to see Abigail. Probably one of my worst ideas.

I could barely get over to her house. I was still very excited from yesterday at the meadow. It had been one of the best moments in my life and I had shared it with such an unbelievable girl. I suddenly felt food come up and bent over to let it out. I wiped my mouth in pure disgust. This was so sickening.

I finally got to her window and was ready to faint. My vision was blurred as I tried to look in her window. "Abi... gail..." I knocked on the window and soon it opened.
"Joe! Oh my gosh, what's wrong?"
"I... help."
"Hurry. Come in." Her hands were on my arms helping me through the window. I was in the middle of getting through when the dizzy feelings kicked in and I fell over, landing on top of Abigail. "Joe, can you please get off?" I groaned and rolled to the side. I felt so sick. "Let me help you to the bed."

She slowly attempted to lift me up and helped me get into her bed. She pulled the covers up and touched my face. "Th-Thanks."
"You look so pale," she whispered, running her hand across my cheek. She touched my forehead. "Oh, no. You're burning up here, Joe. Let me get you something."
She left and then came back with a small bowl and a towel in hand. "What do you need that for?"
"To get that fever down. It's just cold water." Abigail soaked it in the water and ran it across my face. The difference between the heat on my face and the cold water was relaxing. "How does it feel?"
"So good. Thank you." She folded the towel into a small rectangle and placed it on my forehead.
"You should be okay soon. Why did you come if you were sick?"
"I wanted to see you. I wasn't going to let a little fever get in the way of being with you."
"That's very sweet of you but I care about your health. This is not just a little fever."
"Well, now you can take care of me and we can still be together."
She smiled. "I guess so. How about I make you some soup? I bet it would help."
"You don't have to, Abigail."
"I know but I want to. So what do you say?"
"That sounds great."
"Okay, be back in a while."

She walked out of the room and I took in a breath. I still felt under the weather but the cold towel was a huge help. I knew the soup would be even better. She was so good to me. I just knew this was the girl for me. After twenty minutes, Abigail came back in with a tray in her hands and a steaming bowl of soup on top. "Here you go. It's not very good but it might help."
I sat up and ate a little. I was so used to the very fancy and elegant food of the palace that this was so new to me. "Wow. This is great! So much better than what I eat!"
"And what do you eat?"
Come on. Think, Joe. What's a good lie? "I don't know. My mom doesn't even know," I joked.
She laughed. "Well, I'm glad you like it."

There was a knock at the door. "Abigail, your father and I are going somewhere. We'll be back in about fifteen minutes."
"Okay, Mom."
"Love you, honey."
"Love you, too." And as she said that, this weird sensation flickered through my body. It was odd. Those words coming from Abigail were different in a way. I felt out of the ordinary. It was like I was wishing for her to say that to me.

"Joe?"
"Huh? What?"
"Are you okay?"
"No, yeah. Perfectly fine."
"Good." She kissed me and once we separated, that weird feeling crept through me again. I was now finding myself wanting to hear her say that she loved me.

And that was my fourth clue.

  • hes looking for clues to see if abigail loves him.

  • AWWH Abigails taking care of Joe! How cute. =) He better move faster on those clues. Dont wanna miss out now do we!?? lol

    Awesome chapter.

  • I think know the illness that JOe has... I'm pretty sure that it's called the Lovebug! lol

and you know typically, wives take care of their husbands when they are sick... so I think that means that that they should get married... you wouldn't want to be responsible for changing what is normal, would you? lol

    Great Chapter! :D

  • ohh! i want a fifth clue!

  • I love it! It IS a little strange.. He goes there when he is sick! I understand..Just a little strange. I love this! It's great! Joe should just tell the truth. If he told her sooner, he wouldn't be sad if she left him when she found out. Because he wouldn't have been more in love with her than he was before.(Yet he did love her when he first saw her because she was "the girl of his dreams."(Get it! Double meaning.) But then, her being in love with him might make her not care. ~A
  • Hmmm if I could travel anywhere... that is so tough!! Can I say everywhere? I want to see the world!!! It is my dream to go on a year long trip around the world for my honeymoon like in the Shopaholics books. But that would require meeting and marrying someone extremely rich that is capable of taking a year off work. One can dream though right?

PS. I LOVE the opening quote! It's very profound!

  • how many damn clues does he need?!?!

tell her who you are dammit!
