Alice Houston is an original Gertrude Ward Singer, and led many songs with them. She eventually joined the Clara Ward Singers during their later years.

This is a song that she led with the Gertrude Ward Singers, on their album MOVE ON UP A LITTLE HIGHER. It's Rev. Leon Lumpkin's arrangement of "Go Down Moses."

  • You're welcomed! I've had an opportunity to speak to Ms. Alice Houston a couple of times on the phone. She's very nice! I was supposed to meet her a couple of years ago when I was in Cali, but our times kept conflicting. I'm looking forward to meeting her in the future!

  • SING ALICE....I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN HOW WE TORE THE HOUSES UP IN EUROPE in the 90´s...PK..

  • It's kinda hard to tell, but by the context, i.e. Go down, I knew there were saying GO deliver. Even if they had been saying "So..." it's still a awesome piece; just too short.:0)

  • Thanks! On the Gospel Clef's version, I can really hear them saying "GO," but on the Gertrude Ward Singers version, it sounds like they're saying, "SO." I guess that's why I put "So."

  • GO deliver.
