@copetepato147 The real purpose of the extra oxygen is the same as the purpose it is used for in an oxy-acetylene rig. You open your acetylene valve and light the flame, then you open your oxygen valve and adjust your flame till it is almost transparent. Once this is done, you apply the torch to the steel, get it hot and then squeeze the handle to bring in even more oxygen. This creates enough heat and pressure to cut the steel. Acetylene alone will produce an orange flame and no cutting.

It is necessary to add more oxygen to the oxyhydrogen flame for cutting? The oxygen/hydrogen mix product of water electrolysis is already in a perfect 1:2 ratio, forming a perfectly neutral flame.
