With a little help from Carol Burnett, a new star from the hit TV show "Glee" and other top entertainers, political Washington is saluting five of the nation's top artists with the Kennedy Center Honors this weekend.
A surprise list of star performers will honor Bruce Springsteen, Robert De Niro and comic genius Mel Brooks Sunday during a show attended by President Barack Obama and other power players from Washington and Hollywood.
Also receiving the honors -- which recognize individuals who have defined American culture through the arts as a living memorial to John F. Kennedy -- are jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck and opera singer Grace Bumbry.
About 300 guests, including Jack Black, Edward Norton, Matthew Broderick, Ben Stiller, Martin Scorsese, Sting, Philip Seymour Hoffman were at a reception in the East Room of the White House.

Actually, for all the criticism leveled at them by the political left, Christian conservatives are statistically better at helping charities than any other demographic. The left-wing "secular humanists" may talk a good game, but are not very good on the follow-through--which are actual donations of funds to charities.
It is also true those less financially able to give to charities (low & middle-income persons) give more of their income than the wealthier, so-called "socially conscious."

I think Jack Black is an obnoxious, talentless buffoon, and Springsteen one of the worst singing voices of any popular singer, very over-rated as well.
I'm sick & tired of celebrities telling us how & what to think, how "humane" they are, how many children they adopt, and charities they help (for which they are always in front of the cameras, like the self-serving dolts they really are--real charity is unselfish and goes unspoken).

You see, that's what my point is. If you REALLY belive and stand for REAL change, than you have to follow through and keep pressure.
Dressing up, jumping up on stage, selebrating "victory", receiving a "medal" and then go back to your hole until 2012 is unacceptable to me.
Silence is a poison. I'd say You've gotta get off your rear and at least speak up.

I don't hate President Obama either. I don't like what he is doing and especially how he's doing it.
If tomorrow he'll bring our troops home and tell those unelected hot-air-heads in Copenhagen: "Get lost until you clean up your corrupt house, as people of the country I represent don't like to be lied to", then after tomorrow you'll see a big red/white/blue sticker on my Jeep: "OBAMA SPEEKS FOR ME!"
Until then, I'll keep my yellow "DON'T TREAD ON ME, Bro"
