Setar-is a three string musical instrument made in differing designs in different regions.se tar originally persian meaning three string,the first two string in use more than than the third.The string, are made of steel probably gut material in it's early evolution. Dutar meaning two string,another long neck lutes was probably the predecessor of the setar.The same way it is noted that setar evolved in to the the indian sitar,spelled with i than e.
setar is a fond musical instrument in the north west frontier province,now khyber pakhtoonkhwa afghanistan northern iran turkey badakhshan tajukistan kurdistan azerbaijan.
