Baruntse - 10 mins (HD 1280x720). An overview of a commercial expedition to Baruntse (7,129m) during the post-monsoon season of 2009. It includes interviews and fantastic HD footage along the spectacular summit ridge.

  • There are several companies that organise expeditions to Baruntse, mostly around the same cost. I went with Summitclimb led by Dan Mazur, my second trip with SC. (1st was Everest)

They're slightly cheaper than the rest, that's their position in the market, they get you to the mountain and put the infrastructure in place, it's mostly up to you from there, they don't provide the same sherpa as support as others, but that's reflected in the cost.

    Good luck, Rich.

  • Congratulations and thank you for a terrific video!

  • Good video - how did you prepare physically for this and also for Everest. Good job ! I'm on a year out myself, have moved from UK to India and attempt Mera in October. I'm trying get fit for it by doing cardio and stairs etc but I'm worried about the effect of altitude. How did you find it on Baruntse and Mera ?

I climb on Baruntse in 1995 and there were no rocks on our way to West Col Camp One, only snow. How the conditions have changed....
