every artist is influenced by someone you dont have to like it but music is a personal preferance there is always some influence from all types thats what keeps making it better as more music is made

@IHaveInvalidName Nirvana didn't just play grunge, they played alternative. Nickelback plays alternative as well. The fact that you can't recognize that Nirvana influenced a major part of rock music (one that includes Nickelback) is pretty ignorant. There may be better bands (Pixies, Soundgarden, Modest Mouse, and Radiohead) but Nirvana is a large force behind the growth and expansion of the rock scene as it is today. You don't have to like them, but seriously, don't downplay their importance.

@redchris93 What did Nirvana do? they only had as much influence as the next band, and compared to the likes of Sabbath and Led Zep they have about as much influence as a flidemite kangaroo
And with all the sparks Nirvana gave to the fire of grunge, Nickelback are by no means grunge... so in what way would they not exist if not for Nirvana? Chad would still be rocking regardless.
God help us if Nirvana is a great influence.. i may just go and shotgun myself in the face (no pun intended)

@IHaveInvalidName Funny, because without nirvana, bands like Nickelback wouldn't exist. Nirvana's far from my favorite and is not the greatest band of all time, but the influence of the band ensured that many of today's beloved musicians would have the sound that they do. Let's not forget that Nirvana made alternative and grunge commercially viable as genres. What did nickelback do?

I find it funny how haters say Nickelback songs all sound the same, and yet fans say they have changed too much....
And then theres people like me who dont really give a fuck. Theyve always rocked an always will!

@redchris93 All i here in nirvana is consistently ripped off guitar riffs, vocals than just consist of a druggy moaning and THE worst solos known to man.... theres nothing good i can see. Even Grohl seemed to suck when he was with them. and the bassist? does he even exist? ive never heard the bass in any Nirvana song...
