Pure THC is safer than alcohol. Both have ismilar inebriating effects (which diminishes with THC tolerance, similar to the resistance to alcohol's effect). Smoking the plant material has similar cancer causing effects as alcohol, however cannabis research has never been 100% conclusive (the research is conclusively divided).
