Mainstream Soul is generally better than Mainstream Hip-Hop and Rap. Not because Soul is better, but because the music industry revolves around marketability instead of talent nowadays. Its sad really. It ends up being that less people are exposed to good Hip-hop because they don't know where to ind it. Certainly not on the Radio. One thing is true though. They didn't need autotune back then.
