Goofball On The Rooftop: In Strong Winds, After Hurricane Irene
I went up to see if I could jump rope in strong winds. The easily straightened, but light rope (with weighted handles) was a disaster, but the slightly heavier plastic rope (with light, plastic handles) fared better in the wind.
I had already done 2000 skips in the day, while my normal routine is 500, and I figured I'd throw in a few more, into the fray. After that, of course, I started goofing off, up there.
It was fun and games, but I was trying to loose weight, having gained about 5 lb in 18 days, despite fasting -- and I had eaten heavily at the end of the previous day's fast.
I chose the backdrops for the views -- though, they were more epic in person; I'm very happy that I got to capture the red hues of the clouds, from the setting sun, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that those red colors were bouncing off the metal panels of the roof, and off my legs. I also timed the clip about "feels like something's coming to an end" with the most emotionally intense part of the music (for me, at least) -- the part of the music that makes me feel that I am back at something that I am very familiar with, something that I have longed, while, yet, that reunion feels very sad, as if another person has been hurt for my not being there, and as if I am never going to have that thing that I longed for again -- and the feeling from that part of the music is pertinent, there, because sunsets some times really do make me feel like my life is at an end, though this one did not have the lights fading at that exact rate, and I only felt only very slightly depressed -- but it was beautifully depressed. I also liked how the part of the music leading up to that music that coincides with the clip builds up to, and prepares me for it -- I like how it reminds me of death as I feel spellbound by the music, forget to breathe, and then feel the life seemingly slipping away. Indeed, the music is epic.
I'm glad that my playing around with the sequences of the clips -- despite their no longer being chronological -- paid off.
