We had a lot of Fun making this animated version of Doctor Snuggles, our Professorial character and Universal Ambassador for children and grown-ups everywhere. The idea behind it was to reach out to Doctor Snuggles' Friends and Fans around the Globe by reminding them of the existing characters from the Television series and introducing them to some exciting new ones using the same look and charm as before but using new animation 2d/3d techniques to upgrade and enhance the magic for the present day in order to introduce whole new generations to the lovable and wacky inventor and his animal friends as they journey on fun-filled adventures to unimaginable places. Whenever a problem pops up, It's Doctor Snuggles and his madcap team to the rescue, and with the required dose of optimism, serendipity and unorthodox thinking, the good Doctor manages somehow to save the day and be home in time for tea.

This work which was made In Teleimagination Studios, Soho, London is intended as a pilot for a new series which has been scripted and is presently being edited for production. I had a beautifully creative time working with all the remarkable first class talent who gave their all to make this a happy memento for young and old.. A big thankyou must go to my Producer, Sean O'Kelly who skillfully orchestrated the show from start to finish. He brought all the incredible talent on board and smoothed the way, making it all look so easy, from the magnificent acting talent of Jim Broadbent, who fitted the part of Doctor Snuggles, like the proverbial Glove. Jon Colshaw (He is the Superb Actor who plays President G Bush in the TV Series, Deadringers) who plays Uncle Bill. And other outstanding talent who you will see on the credits. As Creative Director on this project I was blessed to have the support of Nick Price, on visuals, Angie Bloxham and Vivienne Hoffman on Script, Gary Andrews and all the Animation team, with special mention to the colourists, Jung Suk and David and the lovely O'Shea's, All the credits are there of these magic talented artists for you to see, but there are others who merit mention, Like Jerome O'Kelly, Marc Proctor
Henry Hoffman, Mark Reeve, Gordon Campbell, Jim Ryan, Dr James Colthurst, Prof.B Gazzard, Dan Whittington, Maeve and Virginia,Kathleen and Myra, Clara, Rebecca and Fiona, Eugene, Andreas and Anthony, Barry Smith, Nick Lom, Hans Everts, George Bergman, Jean Jacques Fougeaud, Pascal Lamorisse, Jean Louis Clarion, Patsy McNulty, Barry Chattington, John Lloyd, Arnold Burns,Lady Sonia,Tim Feller, Jim Mc Cann, Krake Lithander & Morgan, Mans Nillson, Oliver Rochat, Dieter Muller, Marco Gallie, Joe Weineck, Peter Weinkotz. You are all esteemed members of The Universal Snuggles Club and Finally To our quirky but very well mannered and Jolly Executive Producer, Rupert Lywood who must take some of the credit for being a brave player in the face of distraction. Lastly A big horrah for our Musicans, Rob and harry and Singer Emily Smith and also for the Berlin Team of Harry Snitzler and the London dubbing and sound studios and Atomic Arts who all contributed and went the extra mile to please our determined and charming producer with quality performance , Which made my Job of Creative Director on this Gig one of the happiest and memorable events of my career and I can't wait to get on with the "New Doctor Snuggles to the rescue of our children on the home Planet"

A Big Mention must go to Marylou and June , and all the splendid staff of the Groucho Club, who housed and fed and entertained us during these turbulent weeks and for moments of light relief, we would adjourn to my old astral landing haunts of the French House to quaff a healthy glass of cider or a pernod, whilst comtemplating the lost and memorable days spent there as a young enthusiastic and struggling Filmmaker among the famous and infamous glitteri of the day. Then on to Gerry's Club, Where that Remarkable icon of Irish wit, The Svelt and genteel Host, Michael Dillion will lift our spirits with stirring tales of daring chums, past and present and set in far off dreamy places where he has been and on his very word we now long to be, no matter that the destination may be , Paradise Island in the Caribean or the lonely outpost of Spiddal, on the Galway Coast. Here we must shake our heads and tear ourselves away from the dream, but never fear these are merely a few of the influences that went into the creative tapestry of Dear Doctor Snuggles. There it is for you to enjoy and make of it as you will. My parting message is , lets hope there will be more and that the Magic may continue, My Gratitude and Thanks to all of you. past, present and future . And in the words of dear Snuggles Himself "I salute you all my Friends, cos you're the stuff of Dreams"

Happy Days Happy Dreams and Happy Landings, JO'K

  • too dark.....Dr snuggles was always really positive i.e there were no enemys just misunderstandings etween people.

  • I'm dissapointed. The new drawing style is just like any of the modern staple cartoons from Disney, or Pippi Longstocking. Just look at the animation when the characters talk. *shudder*.
