Last summer some friends and I went to see Tony Jaa put on a martial arts demonstration in queens new york at the Museum of the moving image. It was really awesome to be there. One friend had his digital video recorder on him and took some footage. Here is the begining, you can probably hear him in the background. . .free commentary! ^_^

  • That elbow the the chest seems the worst even if the guys were only where doing a demonstration. Ouch.

  • People go "ooh" only to the flashy kicks...how predictable.

  • that move at 57sec is fucking bad ass

  • i wish he would come to the states. i would love to see him in person. i think his athleticism is so utterly amazing and strong. man, he's beautiful

  • @cooltris666 Tony Jaa does only one of them.

  • @cooltris666 Southern Style is more about elbow and knee blocks and is rather defensive.

    Northern style is about speed.

One is about tricking the opponent and about technique.

One is about power (as in kill a buffalo with one punch is one of the moves)

    And other styles.

Each one alone is effective enough to beat nearly everyone if you train hard enough. But if you are able to get the speed of the north, the defense of the southern thailand one, etc. than you will be rather amazing.

  • @cooltris666 I'm starting shaolin lohan and I'm like 6 classes into Axe Capoeira. I've done taekwondo, muay thai, savate, and some sambo. Btw, I haven't done ATA (thank god :D)

I know lots of people who do different styles and they teach me some things like aikido, wrestling, jiujutsu, and a few others vaguely.

But yeah, I've also looked into wing chun which is very good.

The thing you should know about Mauy Boran, it comes it different versions depending on location.

  • @LightxKira5643 haha The style that i have studied is Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying mantis Mix with some Wing Chun and Shaolin.. haha really?? DUDE i have studied some muy thai but now i have GOT to learn Muay Boran.. haha how about you?? do u do any martial arts?? and yes the japanese are awesome.. but i was talking more or less about the Amercanized version of Judo. lol

  • lol(ring ring ring) turn ur fucking phone off!!!!!

  • @IbanezShredder91 Muay thai is a ring fight martial art. Muay Boran was to dangerous so they made Muay Thai, people would be dieing if they allowed Muay Boran fights in the ring. People would think football and boxing were safe in comparison.
