I wonder how many Hank fans know the "Hank Snow Tribute" takes place every 3rd wk end in Aug., in Bridgewater NS Canada.
For the past several years, the Rainbow Ranch Boys, Kayton Roberts & Roger Carroll have attended, what a treat!!

@JellyrollHorton - He was too - seems to be someone who never really got the recognition he deserved - Moving On is a classic.

This would never fit in to what passes for "country music" now. For one thing, nobody's wearing a black hat!

Hank Snow was one of the great voices of the 20th c. Interesting that this is the same stage on which much of the remaining footage of Eddie Cochran was filmed. I wonder if it was the same show?

My old man had this on 78 and I fell in love with it.

One of the best of those "first rock'n'roll songs."

The Rolling Stones did this song on their "December's Children" album, about 1966.
Definately the "hook" for this song was the measure of 6/4 at the end of the verse and another one at the end of the chorus.

@tonespinner You're probably right there.... sounds like a few too many beats in there... it really catches the ear though. Much in the same way as Ring of Fire... alternates measures with different time signatures.

@tjsngh02 Chubby was his professional name. It may seem mean these days due to Political Correctness. It was probably seen as a term of endearment or harmless kidding at the time. Lighten' Up, TJ.

This is one of the greatest country songs of all time. I used to watch the Town Hall Party every week, all through the 50's. The show was broadcast live from Compton, Calif. They had a featured guest every week, like Bob Wills, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. The house band, on the show, had MERLE TRAVIS, JOHNNY BOND, the MADDOX BROS. & ROSE, and JOE and ROSE LEE MAPHIS. Merle, Johnny, Rose, and Joe all had a solo spot each week.
