great overture

@mmorrell1 I think you've got the events of this movie confused with the real history behind the Requiem. In reality Franz von Walsegg (possibly) sent a servant dressed in black to commission the requiem from Mozart, but that is Abraham Murray behind the mask.

Today is the day 298 years ago that is debuted in Vienna.

This is how the Magic Flute overture is supposed to sound. Of course, you're hearing Sir Neville Marriner conduct the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
The dramatic, tender visual also makes it seem very profound. You don't get such close intimacy in a concert setting.
Not a note of Mozart's music was changed. Sir Neville Marriner made a point of that. However, they did raise one note of Salieri's soprano to make it more impressive.
Is it the sudden chops to Papageno and Don Giovanni?

The music sounds too profound in this version!!! It doesn't sound right!!!
Oh, wonderful. I love the part in which he laughs at his father with the Ouverture of the Magic Flute...a real artist, Amadeus.
