I didn't mean "What KDE is now doing, it's nothing much, as it isn't new"! What I meant was that "the playground and sandbox aproach" KDE4 desktop could become exists in squeak, and then go on explaining how its UI works there, like halos, which I think are a good idea (maybe there could be improvements).
-
However the difference between this and Squeak is that people will actually use this. :-)

Great... now KDE starts to look like stillinbetaformanyyears e17, without being as nice as e17.... This is exactly what e modules are...
However, e is many times lighter than KDE on ressources.

Yes! Having 3 clocks on your screen rocks! I know what I'll do when I'll install my KDE4... I'll make it... 7! Great success!
-
Oh, wtf, a frackin clock? Is this the mighty KDE 4? Oh, lord, this is going to be such a flop!
-
Here's a short intro on how it looks and works:
static dot squeak org slash tutorials slash morphic-tutorial-1.html
-
For example, sophie book (dubyadubyadubya sophie project dot org) doesn't have a conventional formatting bar. Instead, you select a text/image/video/etc., and after some milliseconds, apropriate buttons for it appear on it's border, say for resizing an image, or for text, a formatting button expands into a miniwindow for configuration, to choose a different size and text font.
The other interface system appears in Squeak's Morphic system.
-
This is nothing new, Squeak's Morphs have that ability.
It would also allow you guys to test users reaction to this kind of interface, where the things you can Do to an object, are Around that object.
There are a few projects which implement this type of interface.
LOL Half the video consisted of trying to grab a clock as a menu kept popping up over it. I'm excited about KDE4 but this isn't going to impress anybody.
