The 2002 US Senate race in Louisiana was a heated battle between Democrat incumbent Mary Landrieu, who narrowly won election in 1996, and Republican Elections Commissioner Suzanne Haik Terrell, both of New Orleans. This was a rather well-watched race, as the runoff occurred after the November election day, and well-known national politicians from both parties came to support their candidates. This commercial is from the Louisiana Democratic Party and criticizes Terrell for her record as Elections Commissioner, claiming she took money from an out of state company whom she offered a contract to install voting machines. The company's bid was one million dollars higher than the lowest bidder and many of the machines failed due to humidity problems.
