Gingrich Supports 'Variation' on Obamacare-Type Health Insurance Mandate

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R.-Ga.) said on NBC's "Meet the Press" yesterday that he supports requiring all individuals to buy health insurance, post a bond to pay for health care, "or in some way you indicate you're going to be held accountable"--a position he called a "variation" on the type of individual mandate included in President Barack Obama's health-care reform law.

Jefferson did not succeed in protecting his ideals. When he actually became President he said "We're all Federalists now" as a way of communicating he was abondoning his anti-Federalist ideals.

You can always find some intellectuals who gained power, but they didn't gain power through their own means. Only by endless compromising. That's why I'm pretty sure Mitt Romney is going to win. Only well-spoken moderates win the Presidency.
