@hawlz24 i never knew jordan, but i'm sure he was wonderful. i don't want to diminish any of the value of this song to any of you who knew him, but this song just screams my uncle's name to me. i lost my uncle 7 months ago yesterday and just stumbled across this song today. honest to god i think my uncle and jordan must have been cut from the same cloth. you could quite easily substitute the two

Thanks for commenting. So sorry to you and hawlz24 for your loss. I think the world needs to hear that song and also hope D records it. He did tell us he sang it at the service but other than that he was debuting it for the first time to his fan club. We were so honored. Oh, and the TM song he thought about singing at the service (before he wrote HJ) is actually called "My Old Friend."
No-not the country. See comments above. Jordan was a good friend of Dierks'--they grew up together. Jordan died in late January of this year.

Wow! Jordan was your cousin? Thanks so much for commenting. When Dierks sang this at Last Call Ball last week there was not a dry eye in the house. I hope he records it on his next record! Before he sang it, he spent a lot of time talking about Jordan and how they grew up together, how close they were and how he had thought about singing the Tim McGraw song "My best friend" but then asked God for help writing a song and that's how "Hey Jordan" came about.
