Melbourne Freeway Tour: Citylink, Monash Freeway and Eastlink and Eastern Freeway - attempt 2

A slower and bit jumpy tour of four of the main freeways in Melbourne, Victoria. Travelling south along Citylink through the Burnley Tunnel onto the Monash Freeway, exiting south onto the new Eastlink Tollway, and then turning around, back up through the Melba Tunnel and onto the Eastern Freeway, winding through North Melbourne in Friday afternoon peak-hour traffic to Citylink.

The drive took about 2.5 hours, and cost about $22 in tolls on the Citylink and Eastlink Tollways.

There's quite a bit of construction on the Citylink South and Monash Freeways and traffic was quite heavy, but it made for a good drive.

you know, you could have avoided all that crap traffic in North Melbourne if you had've got off at Hoddle Street and went to Coburg via High Street and picked up Normanby Avenue at Thornbury to Moreland Road, or even gone up further to Bell St :)

Aha... I see. I guess local knowledge goes a long way. I was keen to get back on the Citylink as close to the city as possible but yeah, the traffic was annoying.

Australia has a large Irish community and cultural heritage: both free settlers and convicts. Some say as high as 30% of population has Irish heritage. I don't mind a bit of the Irish dance music: although it gets a bit repetitive after a while.
