how many money do each person get

@monopolybestgameevar yeah that's what I figured too although I could see this theoretically making a difference. If a player lands on GO when just a few dollars from bankruptcy then the next player gets a "collect $50 from each player card". If they had to wait until passing GO it could make a big difference in the game.

@marsh84722 Yes you do get $200 for landing on GO (as in the next tern you will move past it). The community chest card does not give you an extra $200 for GO. Awesomeness for paying such close attention to detail in Monopoly!

@marsh84722 yes, i have this new version of monopoly. This however, is the speed version of the game, so when I make videos such as this one explaining rules, I use the standard set. I also call Baltic and Mediterranean dark purples or browns interchangeably. This is how they play now in tournaments though (with the speed dice too). I'll make a video concerning this soon!
hi :-) if you failed to roll doubles on your 3rd turn in jail, can a get out of jail free card still be used instead of paying the $50 at that point?

@marsh84722 yep, a get out of jail free card can be used at any time in jail :)

One more quick question about a chance card :-S On the chance card "advance token to nearest utility". Does nearest mean the nearest going forward only (same with nearest railroad)? Water works is found 8 spaces behind a chance card and the electric company is found 16 ahead of that same chance card. Wouldn't water works be the one to go to then? Also it doesn't say whether you get pass GO money or not, is it assumed we do?

@marsh84722 You always advance on the Monopoly board except when drawing the go back 3 spaces card. So you would advance to the utility in front of you, even if the one behind you is closer. If you are advancing and go past GO, you collect $200.

The version I have says luxury tax is $100. On every other version of monopoly I've played it was $75. According to wiki, it's been increased to $100 since the September 2008 version of the game.

@marsh84722 Yes, the new versions have several new additions to make the game go faster. When I play on one of those, I just play with $75 luxury tax and include the10% option on income tax. You can play either way, however. Its not really going to affect the outcome, it just depends if you want to play a little more quickly.
