BROCKTON — Julie Young saw the flames and smoke pouring out of her neighbor's Keith Avenue home on Sunday after her daughter began screaming: 'The house is on fire!"
At first, Young thought it was her own home.
Then she saw flames next door.
"When I came out and I looked, the smoke was coming out the through the window on the second floor and I ran back in and I picked up the phone and I called 911," Young said.
She was among several bystanders who watched crews battle a three-alarm blaze at 12 Keith Ave. first reported at 6:04 p.m. Sunday.
No injuries were reported.
Flames could be seen inside the large Colonial-style home on the city's south side. Smoke billowed from most of the home's windows, covering much of the area near the fire.
Firefighters were hoisted onto ladders and some climbed onto the building's roof as fire hoses drew water from several nearby hydrants.
"We saw the back of the house, like, smoking," said Tiffany Young, 17, who lives next door. "Everything was blowing everywhere."
