When you are searching for a job and see advertised in wanted ads online saying they need an "evaluator" I didn't even know it was for a "Secret Shopper" at first. My job coach told me to apply when I asked her about it (as I wasn't going to) and since I worried she would think I wasn't serious about finding work, I did apply. Before I did however I checked out the site and saw then it was for a Secret Shopper. She said "It might be fun! Go for it!" so I asked her to check out the Better Business Bureau logo if it is valid or not. She took one look and said it was valid by simply looking at the site. I swear she thought I was a moron but really she was for not properly verifying the validitity of the site.

Sadly most people don't do that... and it is really quite easy. Infact the Better Business Bureau even has a search right on their site where you can search for the company and see if it really is in good standing with them.

It all comes down to this: If a job is TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE .. then it really IS TOO GOOD to be true and isn't true at all!

This job turned out to be a fraud! I never thought I would ever apply for one of THOSE! But I learned that the scammers employ all sorts of tactics and you might think you wouldn't be caught in one but with the new scams they are coming out with all the time (like if you are selling something online and they are buying your item from other country, they say they will send you more than you are asking simply because they want to also give you the money for shipping since they can't go pick it up) chances are you could very well fall for one of these!

So it is important to pay attention and become informed!

  • Thank God you spotted this. they actually do this as a day job thats why they are getting better at it. when i was in Nigeria, you hear stories about people going to the cyber cafe early in the morning and going home at night till the next day. they always want to live the luxury life but not working for their money. i dont think it will ever stop people just have to be very careful and not be GREEDY.

  • @SLK09ng It seems it is the nature of most of the world sadly to be greedy and some just find it way too easy to take advantage of people who are too trusting and less security oriented.

  • That´s why i can´t stop scambaiting, these 419 mugus are trying everything to chop our dollars. But the good part is, they are dumb like monkeys (no offence on monkeys).

Check "Thescambaiter" on google and you´ll find 419 scammers who even straped notebooks to their balls for photos, just for a try to steal some money. sounds weired he ?

419 is in nigerias a multi-billion dollar businnes, scamming foreign people is like a dayjob for them. cybercafes are full of 419 mugus and EFCC did nothing

  • @Clipshit I love the scambaiter and am still learning and was amazed by how far they go to try to get the trust of innocent people and get their money

  • Ask your job coach for a refund..

  • @kabo0m Probably because of the title I picked. I probably should have called the video "Fake Cheque Scam evidence 2010" .. but I couldn't think of a good name at that time. I was doing searches and researching and found out this type of scam is called 419.

  • @MegaXton Thank you. Yes I know there are a lot of great people in Nigeria and know that it is only some who do this and because they want to make and need the money and it does sadly pay well. I am glad not everyone does this. It also is not just from Africa but the UK and many other countries as well.

  • @911Truelife Thanks :)

  • @isa9ja No insult to Nigerians but these types of scams are commonly referred to as 419 scams because of a reference to a Nigerian legal code referring to this type of scam.

  • @Pat2296 The funny thing is I volunteer at their office now and they realize I know a lot and she asks me questions on how to get her computer to work right and to investigate jobs for her so she knows if it is a scam or not. Made me feel good as I realize that she did pay attention after all and realize she did put me and others in danger for suggesting that job and not properly investigating it with the Better Business Bureau like I asked her to.

  • @cb20571 It was recorded before handing them in. I wanted proof as I educate others as more than a handful applied for this same job.

  • @ronsnipe Even banks take longer than a few weeks to verify it is valid. They can only do a preliminary verification but that doesn't mean it is valid. Also that is just one tactic they might do. Others buy a check printing program that many businesses may use and print them out and then they get innocent victims to do the mailing believing they are doing a valid job and then they are sent to others who are getting scammed.
