  • I never understood why they just didn't build more Tomcats, with the factories opened, they would have created jobs and been able to evolve the tomcat into a monster, it was big but they could have re-worked airframe to be low observable just like the Super Hornet, also every former tomcat driver and even a Strike Eagle driver told me that the Tomcat's bombing system was the best out of any US aircraft. They say it was cost I say cold war zealots killed the greatest plane to grace the sky

  • VF-142 Forever baby!!!!!!

  • The real star of "Top Gun" wasn't that jerk Tom Cruise .. it was The Cat !! F14 = best damn grunt-fighter in all of naval aviation history, anytime, anywhere .. out in front by the length of its own contrail ...

  • ONE LAST TIME BABY !!!!

  • ONE COOL JET

  • @F22coleman blame Cheney for cancellation of F-14D's and future variants. Had he not cancelled it...... The F-14 we would see today would be untouchable by others considering how sophisticated the airframe was. God... i miss the F-14 =(

  • Largely agreed. The Tomcat was awakened....and while the Navy slept Cheney administered the two-drug combo.

  • @CRsBeem actually the airframe was a couple of generations ahead of its time, and had a completely untapped capability of modernazation that makes other fighter plane designers weep with night sweats, one reason the tomcat waited sooooo long for its first upgrade was quite simply grumman got it right pretty well on the first try, and new technologies had to be invented before amazing upgrades could be justified, but the F-110 engines fixed the biggest problem with the a models, and tomcat wokeup

  • Really silly...silly for me to even comment. Choose a subject and stick, with it other then compile a bunch of emotionally wrought images that have nothing to do with the F-14 being retired from service and then put an equally sappy ass song as the

backing track to evoke some sort of touching theme. Don't bother unless your gonna try and get around the machine the crews and the service which used them and do it even a tenth right.

  • A few things to point out: 1) It's "Tribute", nor tribut. 2) It said "video." It's not. It's a fucking slide show. 3) It was loaded with USAF images and personel. Nothing wrong with them, but if you're making a NAVY F-14 Video, 1st, it should be about the NAVY, and 2nd, there should be a video. Awful. Try again.

  • VF-31 Tomcatters were the last to have the Tom Cat. I served on the USS John C. Stennis CVN-74, while hosting them on RimPac 2004. I will miss them in my heart forever. I can say with a great deal of pride, I had the honor of seeing them off for the final time. As they defended me at my birth in 1974, I got to say Thank You, by launching them off for the final time for their retirement, and resume the watch. BZ Tomcatters, Fair winds, and Following Seas, and Skies. -ABE2 (AW) USN Ret. <o.o
