Another very instructive game that demonstrates how to punish your opponent if he does not develop his pieces

  • Bobby Fischer's play is always so purposeful and clean. You get the impression that Geller wasn't that great of a player from watching this game, but of course he was among the world's elite, and won the USSR championships twice among many other accolades. It is a bit surprising that he went in for the Qf6 line. Anyway, thanks for the game Sean. A lot of Fischer's games have been analyzed to death (esp. My 60 memorable games), but you do such a good job of it - I am thoroughly enjoying them.

  • Thanks. Yes, I agree with you, his most famous games have been over-done on youtube and that is why I am omitting them from my series. Glad you anre enjoying them!

  • @isayoldchap1 In fact Geller was for Fischer a kind of black demon. I´m not sure but i think he was the GM that more times beat Fischer in official games.

  • Bobbys games are always a pleasure :-)

  • High quality video.

  • Sean, thank you very much for these illustrations, they are wonderful...

  • Qb7!! is a beautiful schwichenzug. I'm sure most of us would have played Qb4+ immediately when black struggles on a piece down. Fischer's move leaves black with no hope at all. Thanks for these amazing videos - I'm 2200 strength but definitely learn a lot from these. Cheers!

  • i'm just starting out with chess openings but why don't you see b5 in the rui lopez to kick the bisschop of it's diagonal?

  • Thanks for sharing , that was a very good video

  • Great analysis; really enjoyed.

  • fischer's score against geller was three wins, two draws and five lossesgiving fischer a minus score against geller tho in their later games fischer would have the upper hand.fischer also had a minus score against tal(two wins against four losses with five drawn)and again it should be noted that all tal's wins came in a single tourney-Bled 1959 Candidate's Tournament-long before fischer would reach his peak(and just as tal was hitting his)
