Part from a report by Times Correspondent Deborah Haynes on a BBC-website. For the complete report see: http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9565000/9565662.stm

If you listen to this you might wonder: to which degree is NATO responsible for the deaths of civilians in Zawiyah? They paved the way for the rebels from the Western Mountains by bombing the defences of the Libyan Army into pieces, allowing them to start a cruel fight in a city.

Is that the objective of NATO for Tripoli as well - make a peaceful city as Tripoli turn into a battlefield with many civilian deaths?

I try to add any more news on this page: http://waterput.yolasite.com/english/devolopments-in-az-zawiyah-in-western-libya

    Hi, greetings from germany!

Since you know a lot about the libya-conflict, I wonder if you could answer me a special question.

Are there any videos available showing peaceful demonstrations in libya from the time before 17. Feb.?

I mean real peacefull, not as p.full as the " FC Liverpool-Ultras"

You know, big p.full crowds in the streets and on the places, women and children, waving flags and signs...

    Thanks in advance.

  • @alanbikes Hello Germany. No, I haven't seen any videos before February 17th. I do know that there was a site with the name related to february 17, which was registered a few days in advance, which makes it look as if this uprising was staged, with an attack on the barracks in the east, and the firing of police-stations. There is a Libyan account of the affairs near the beginning, which you can find at: youtube.com/watch?v=7815fwqyDGE

  • @WolkenZwemmer

Thanks for your answer & Info.

One video I found is: watch?v=z41kQvx4uKw.

But obviously it is not clear from witch exact time this fragments are. Could be post-17Feb also.

In the web are voices that say, that the protest were p.full in the beginning. But they turned violent when some "strange&foreign elements" took control over the action.

Saw on your account that you are from the Netherlands.

My residency is just 40km from Kerkrade.

    Thanks & Oranje boven!

  • @alanbikes I think that these 'strange and foreign elements' have taken over in a very early stage. Deutschland über alles! Drop by some time.

  • LOL! does anyone even pay attention to her? She says "people are JOINING the rebels by putting up the rebel flag, but rebels suspect they are part of a fifth column." Does not say anything about civilians fighting rebels (who are civilians). Listen yourself.
