Oxford has many things to do in your free time. There are museums, art galleries, theatres and cinemas; a famous and ancient botanical garden; many beautiful and historical University colleges; two markets; and several streets of exciting shops. On fine days in the city centre street performers often play music to the crowds. If you prefer something more unusual, you can try the Oxford tradition of punting on the river, or watch cricket and rugby on the university sports grounds.
There are also very many pubs, bars and nightclubs and on Friday and Saturday nights the city centre throbs with life.
Oxford is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in England, including the Cotswolds with its traditional stone-built villages and undulating hills.
London is also very close. Coaches leave every 15 minutes during the day, and the journey takes 90 minutes. Many other interesting cities are close by.
