Sunday afternoon, reading some web notes about cinematography, in
particular about depth of field, particularly shallow DOF, and how viewers have
got used to it in movies, and now filmmakers strive to achieve it in modern
filmmaking, in spite of the new hdv. To get DOF now requires expensive 35mm
adapters, unless, like me, you use what you got - in this case, a Canon HV20
with enough built-in technology to approximate a shallow DOF just by using a
portrait mode or filming with Aperture Priority. I usually rely on simple
autofocus. However, for this experiment with the spacemen, HV20 set at
Program, Aperture Priority, lowest depth of field (for my zoom level, about 2.8).
Here ya go. (If a Ytube video freezes, click the right side of the donut on the play bar.)
... No more material from me for next 3 to 5 years as retiring, moving to new city and traveling.
Yuck, digital zoom! Make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!
