Sunday afternoon, reading some web notes about cinematography, in

particular about depth of field, particularly shallow DOF, and how viewers have

got used to it in movies, and now filmmakers strive to achieve it in modern

filmmaking, in spite of the new hdv. To get DOF now requires expensive 35mm

adapters, unless, like me, you use what you got - in this case, a Canon HV20

with enough built-in technology to approximate a shallow DOF just by using a

portrait mode or filming with Aperture Priority. I usually rely on simple

autofocus. However, for this experiment with the spacemen, HV20 set at

Program, Aperture Priority, lowest depth of field (for my zoom level, about 2.8).
