Film#2
In Jan 2007 whilst researching Stop Animation, I stumbled across Blunty3000s' Lego Stopmotion Animations. I hadn't considered Lego up to that point, but loved his films. I have always had a love of Lego and it seemed the obvious medium for me from that point on. As a little 'thank you' to Blunty for getting me into this seriously addictive and silly pass time, I decided that my second film should be a mini homage to Blunty. Love him or hate him, there is no denying that he was once a prolific brickfilmer. Whilst not the most artistic cinematography wise, he was one of the funniest.
I was stuck for a story line for a while, then I am sorry to say, I saw Bluntys VLog entry 'C*** in a Sock' video, which was a test by Blunty to see how far he could push the YouTube censorship boundaries. Needless to say, a video of himself naked except for a sock on a certain part of his anatomy was quickly banned by the YouTube censor. However it gave me an idea...
For those of you that follow Bluntys' animations, he has a Lego minifig that looks quite like him and he used this a lot in his films as his signature minifig, or sigfig for short. I have taken the liberty of using some of Bluntys' Lego animation characters and set props for this parody, which I hope he enjoys and doesn't mind me using these aspects of his films.
This is my second film and I wanted to experiment and get some practice with different aspects of Brickfilming:
1. Minifig running. marching & walking cycles and vehicle animation
2. Lighting effects (Grumpy Monkey Cafe window and entrance lighting, inside the Dumpster in the alley)
3. Masking (when 'The Sock' is hiding behind the lamp post)
4. Creative filming angles (inside the dumpster in the alley, Sniper over shoulder shot )
5. Some minor post production effects (Police motorcycle lights, the 'Grumpy Monkey Cafe' neon window sign, SWAT APC headlights and the Sniper rifle scope)

If you want to learn how to make your own Brick Films, please visit the best site there is on the subject:

The forums there are full of friendly and helpful people with loads of advice to share. The website itself is still under construction at this time, but will hopefully be up and running soon.

Cheers Blunty and I hope you get back to Lego animation soon, as we are getting withdrawal symptoms. Until then in the inimitable words of Blunty 'Catch you next time!'

Lego Minifig Info Please Read
Lots of you are asking, The Riot Police Minifigs and the Armored Vehicle aren't Lego, they are a Lego Clone/Copy called Sluban - If you search for 'Lego Police' on eBay you will often find them for sale. Or if you live in the UK, Wilkinsons stock them. The brick wall sections are from a Mega Bloks set called Alien DNA Lab, this is discontinued, but you often see them on eBay as well. Happy Hunting/Shopping.

  • @twin2b25628 Cheers, I must get around to finishing my Zombie movie at some point. The Hello Mum was inspired by the number of idiots on any street interview that always hover around in the background shouting Hello Mum or on their mobiles ringing mates etc. Glad you liked it.
