The musical makes a very good point... No matter what happened or what she did, Elisabeth always remained true to herself and accepted no compromises. Was she a saint? No. Did she hurt people who were close to her because of her selfishness? Yes. Did her independence bring happiness? No. But very few people can cope living on their own terms and for this Elisabeth will always be my hero!

Beautiful. ~sniff sniff~ I loved it, thanks for uploading.
I love these two. Actually, white in other cultures (Japanese for example) is the color of death and sterility (think of hospitals and you'll get it).

I love this scene. I wish I could see this in my native language, which is Polish.

I much prefer the Essen/Dutch ending where Death carries Sisi's body off with him. The Takarazuka/Hungarain eding of the two literally going off together is too mushy for me...

mate is so cute!!!

at 1:27 its like death cant beleive she is hugging him!

i think , because she was murdered rather than suicide, she went to a different place thats why in the end death drops her.

I don't understand! So after everything, they're still not together??

in the Japanese Takarazuka version Der Todd (death) also takes Elisabeth with him. Are there videos on you tube of these others you just listed? This one is making me sad...he has loved her so long, wanting her and waiting for her...then has such a look of wonder when she comes to him...they finally kiss...and then he is alone and looking so sad again.

As I said in another Elisabeth video... I think Death and Elisabeth are together after the events but he's just trying to hide it to keep her to herself and not lose his position as Death... For if the Fates see that he's in love, they may think he can't perform his duties and take her away from him... At least that's my feeling from the Prologue when he puts up a wall of 'I don't know and I don't care' to the Judge and Lucheni...

You're very right. ^_^
Interesting ending. She gives in in that she admits she loves him, but still says she belongs to herself even as he says she belongs to him--and then drops her on the ground.
I wonder if the idea is that she's at peace, or that they're going to keep fighting even after her death for her freedom?

I think Death is just a kind of 'messenger', as opposed to a 'god' of the underworld in this interpretation... From the Prologue you can deduce that Der Tod hasn't seen Elisabeth for a long time, but where she has gone...? Your interpretations are both plausible. Personally I'd like to think she's at peace, wherever death cannot go (although it's sad!)

You're so welcome :D I'm glad my translation is good. And the show really looks brilliant--I want to see it so badly but I'm stuck in the US and trans-Atlantic travel seems kind of impossible for me in the near future :( Anyway Mate is amazing, as well as Serkan Kaya! The whole cast is!
