  • 55 in 6th gear is a lie

  • Do not switch to synthetic until your 3,000 mile oil change. sythetic works to well to obtain a proper break in.

  • hey how many quarts need it?

  • Using full synthetic oil before the engine is broke in will make you lose power and have a overall weaker engine, the superior friction reduction of synth oil will not let the engine wear the tight tolerances enough to loosen up the engine. The burs and sharp spots from the new engine will not get worn either .I actually researched this on the net and I did read it from pros on many forums. Oh and the bike mechanic I bought my bike from said NO synthetic oil until the engine is fully broken in

  • go ask any technician or any bike dealer. go tell him what you read off the internet and he will probably smack you. full synthetic is better no matter when you put it in there's less friction and it disperses heat better. Dont give me some bs about "oh well conventional oil conditions the seals better". give me a real reason why its not good. go talk to a real technician.

  • you have no idea what your talking about. Don't think you know something because you heard some tool talking about it on a forum.

  • Yea I read online that your not suppose to add synthetic oil until 3000 miles so that the engine is fully broke in the guy I bought my ninja from said the same thing so i will probably wait before adding synthetic oil

  • hmmm....some brand new cars come from the dealer with 0 miles and already have synthetic.

  • Also, Amsoil fluids are very good.

  • There is a lot of discussion on this. They say on modern engines that it is safe to switch to synthetic oil right away.

Something important to add is that changing the oil at a very low mileage is a good idea because new motors tend to have little metal shavings in the oil system that can be removed by changing the oil and filter.
