what a beautiful interpretation of this caprice. It might be slower but gosh he placed feelings on paganinis caprices which usually violinists tends to use just for fast virtuosity show off. Im amazed how beautiful this caprice could be... Im gonna retake, start once again to practice it... totally a different interpretation I love it!!!

I played this caprice exactly like this once.....oh then I woke up, did I forget to mention that bit. In all reality, this is the best 4th I have ever heard. Ilya Kaler is the only one who even comes close, coupling the virtuosity with musicality, though it still does not touch touch it. Where most violinists scramble, Kogan phrases.

Reminds me of the Giant Robot (Johnny Sokko) in the beginning :)

Hi, can you please repost this with the end if you have it? This interpretation is so wonderful :)

Comme les oeuvres pour violon seul de Bach; trop de grincements de cordes; trop d'accords; trop serré et saccadé; registres suraigus exagérés et manque évident d'équilibre dans les phrasés !! Quelque peu superficiel ! Désolé !

Quite nice. Incredible control and artistry like only Kogan, and a few others, could show the world.

@Silvarando If you want to get the score you can find it at imslp .org/wiki/24_Caprices_for_Solo
_Violin,_Op.1_(Paganini,_Nicco l%C3%B2) about 2/3rds of the way down the page -
anybody know where i can download the score for this caprice?

Most people play this too fast. I'd rather hear it slow andhave musical value, then to play it too fast and have it lose all artistic merit. He plays it just right, besides he's proved he can play fast countless times already.

I think it's just your machine and mine :)
Yes, it is Rostropovich.
Hi Leonidkogan47 : thanks so much for posting this. However, the end is missing.
Kogan was an angel on earth, truly.

yes! Kogan once formed a trio with Rostropovich and Emil Gilels in a piano trio. I will post a recording they made soon.
