A Russian Proton rocket launched today, 25th March 2012, at 12:10 UTC carrying the Intelsat 22 satellite into orbit from Launch Pad 39 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Intelsat 22 will replace and expand Intelsats Ku-Band coverage. This specific satellite will provide Ku-band capcity to the Middle East, Eastern Africa and C-Band coverage to most of Europe, Africa and the Middle East and Eastern Asia.

This was the 374th Proton launch since 1965.

    It is such a shame there are no better cameras with greater zoom at Baikonur. Both Soyuz and Proton would look great with more powerful cameras... Hope they will realise that soon! :(
