Meet Doña Sabina, a 68 year old mother of 11 in Huehuetla, Puebla, Mexico. She's a third-generation partera (midwife) and curandera who is now working through a partnership with the Secretaria de Salud at a rural hospital that offers allopathic / biomedical and traditional medical services. She is bilingual in Spanish and Totonac, and treats mostly local Totonac speaking patients. The interview is in Spanish. Subtitles soon to come... Many thanks to her for sharing her story with us.

  • Please make subtitles. The easiest thing you can do is write them and then post them on another website, like a blog. Or send them to me, then I can upload them somewhere and you can put them on here.

  • @Ulmdorgr I'd love to make subtitles! Unfortunately, medical school doesn't leave me with much spare time. Hopefully I'll be able to make it happen over the next few months.

  • @Ulmdorgr I can help you :)

  • this is amazing. she is talking about disease in a holistic sense, approaching feelings like envy and resentment as roots of physical ills. thank you.

  • me encanta la voz de la que esta entrevistando !

  • @shannonohern I know how long that sort of thing takes, but try to do it in small sections! If you separate it into 30 second segments, there are 12 parts to transcribe. Each one would only take you 5-10 minutes, so you could do one each weekend... Ahaha good luck with school. I wish I could understand all languages.
