Lyrics:

Do you hear me?

If I sing with Angels,
Will you hear me?
If I sing with Angels,
Will you cross the line?

I hear your voice but you're not here.
I walk the halls and I'm alone.
You're not coming home.

I'm holding out 'til we're out of time.
Would you pierce the veil?
Would you cross the line?
I can feel you here, souls redefined.
I can't let go of our design.
Would you pierce the veil?
Would you cross the line?

Come back to me!

  • I honestly wish this song was longer, would have been my favorite if it lasted around 5 minutes rather than just 4.

  • Something I notice in Les Friction is that this Paint fellow's weakness is soft singing, unfortunately evident in this final song of the album. However, Helmut used that to an advantage; each weak moment of singing is immediately followed by an enormous payoff of explosive vocals that bring a chill to your spine.

Paint can deliver strong vocals, not quite so much soft ones; to use his weakness to enhance his strength? I find that to be genius.

  • Rest in peace Helmut.

  • @IthildinTheWolf I'd say have the guy die only because it's not as typical/predictable.

But if I were to do an illustration for this song, I'd probably have it depicting Helmut and Franz throughout different stages of their lives. Like in one corner have them chasing each other as kids, then as teens, another showing them in the studio working on music, and then finally Helmut crying over Franz grave. I think that'd be neat; showing a timeline of sorts between two very close brothers.

  • @scryedzxp Yep, I know that he created this song for his brother and I absolutely respect that. I just wanted to hear some opinions and because of the fact that the whole album tells a story I want to inculde this song into my drawings :)

  • @IthildinTheWolf The song is written/composed with his brother in mind, who died last year. So to answer your question, it wasn't intentionally written as a love song between a man and a woman. It's about Helmut grieving the death of his brother, Franz. But then again, music is supposed to be interpretive, right? So I don't know. Choose whoever you want. I'm sure it'll be fine.

  • I'm a hobby artist and absolutely love this album! So I decided to draw an illustration for each song, creating a small series. This song is one of my favourites, but I have one problem: Who died? The woman/ girl or the guy protecting her? Because of the line 'If I sing with angels, will you hear me?' I'd say she died, which makes the story even more dramatic: He wasn't able to protect her ( like he said in Save Your Life or World On Fire)

  • This song honestly makes me cry knowing that Helmut probably did this for his brother. Reminds me of all the freinds and family i have lost too :'(

  • This song is particularly sad when you understand the history of Les Friction. Les Friction was created by the surviving brother of the incredibly talented ES Posthumus. The surviving brother said he was never going to make another ES Posthumus album again. I'm happy he chose to continue his music, but this song feels like an embodiment of his pain.

  • Powerful, inspirational, simply magical.

  • When I hear this song I think on my life and all the things that make me happy.

  • After listening to string theory and here comes the reign I'm completely blown away by the power of this song! Wow!
