PY1AHD is a mag-loop god! If you haven't, check out his website. I love the speedometer cable. A very simple solution for someone like me who knows nothing about stepper motors!

It kinda looks like the bushings between the cable and the capacitor shaft are plastic and provide enough spacing that there wouldn't be much capacitance (IMHO).

It looks good--but why would you want to remote-control an air variable? You don't say anything about that.

Thanks Kimmo,
You can send to my e-mail your loop diameter, the loop conductor diameter, and your capacitor value and I can calculate the small magnetic loop size to the maximum bands coverage with your variable capacitor.

You bet. Your site is one, that I check at least once in week if something new has came in. :) I made also one loop from 10mm copper pipe. It is working nice. And I like it. It can be tuned with cap from 12m to 30m. unfortunately made too big from from the loop and can't get it to 10m, maybe fix it some day.

Hi Kimmo;
Thank you very much for your kind words.
Have you the seen the "Light Loop" article recently downloaded on my webpage?
73s and good Dxs.

Is the cable conductive, and does it have a capacitive effect when you move?

There is a plastic knob and a teflon cilinder section to avoid the capacitive coupling.

That is ingenious Alex. Very elegant solution-- and allows you to get the loop up and away from your head.
