I grew carrots once in soil and they were riddled with worm holes? Didn't think anything would be growing now.

That's cool you have a pet. It's nice you have so many plants in your greenhouse.

those are impressive carrots growing in those rocks, amazing size too!

Nice video. We grow several varieties of beets in out aquaponic system. Some grow properly while others grow the beet root above our shale & gravel blend. All are tasty.

@dj4monie soz no pics. When I say plant them shallow, just use a normal depth bed, but place your tubers very "high" in the bed - barely covered. I had a small amount of water splashing onto them most of the time. Once they had taken root and put up stems, I simply covered them in more medium. Worked a treat.
I grew radishes last year in my expanded clay pellets. I had problems with the radishes forcing their way up, and growing above the surface. Any ideas, other than switching to shale which isn't available in my area yet?

@gcdrummer02 Radish sort of grow on the top of the ground...less than half of the root part is below the surface.

They haven't changed much since the summer growth. I think they are basically dormant since I keep the greenhouse around 36 degrees during the winter. It's still need to see some green in there during the dead of winter!

How is the shale different then Expanded agate ( Hydroton)? It seems to work almost the same. 'Im not seeing the difference.
