A must watch performance of Pathetique Sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven.

I hope you guys enjoy this! This has to be one of my favorite Beethoven pieces he ever composed. it's interesting because this piano solo is composed in a way that could make it playable by a string quartet! My goals for this Beethoven piano piece was to high light the main voice in the 1st theme, bring out the left hand when it changes to repeated chords, then bring out the LH on the return to the theme. At the change then I tried to make a conversation of the RH and LH almost like a fighting husband and wife as they interrupt eachother. (I got the interrupting concept from Mr Edward Parker) then, on the return Beethoven uses triplets, So to make each theme different I bring out the triplets more than you normally would in a middle voice, but here I feel it's appropriate. Then, the ending is a soft "good night"

The piece came out exactly how I wanted it ^_^

  • I love the way you play this piece, I've heard many performances, by many famous pianists and I gotta say this is my second favorite of all.

  • @FustoltKalbasz wow, thanks! Might I ask who was your favorite?

  • Very good performance and excellent sound. Great, great piano man!! I've found your site because of your reaction on Cubus.

  • @abrahammulder ^_^ haha thanks! You sounded somewhat angry or something when you replied to my comment the first time. :) but it was a fun discussion! Glad you enjoyed the video :) take care!!

  • Hi Andrew, I discovered you on Youtube last summer and bought a piano this summer. Have been practicing for a month now. When people ask me "Do you have a teacher?" I reply "I have a Youtube teacher and His name is Andrew Furmanczyk". Thank you soooooooooo much for inspiring me and teaching me to play piano. I have introduced you and your videos to lots of my friends.

  • I love your interpretation!

  • thats sooo good! you talent!

  • Love your interpretation. Thank you for all the work you do as a "YouTube-teacher", and for your playing :-)

  • Ah, I love this piece.. I find it a great example for explaining what "Cantabile" sounds like. I feel some parts of your interpretation come out as a bit harsh, but maybe I'm just too used to Barenboim's version of it.

Trying to learn it myself as my first big project, but it has some pretty tricky to remember (sometimes seemingly random) intervals.

  • Thank you Andrew, i have given me inspiration to learn and play piano.

    Lots of thank from me

  • Do you have a CD? I would buy it.

    Twice.

  • WOW!!!

  • Hey Andrew, I would like to thank you very much for the videos that you have uploaded and created, as they are helping me to finaly play the piano which is some what a dream then and now slowly becoming reality.

Thank you once again, all the best

    Jacob Williams

P.S Can you please post some more videos of you playing!

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!<3
