Author Irshad Manji tells a story of a Muslim girl convicted of having premarital sex even though she proved she had been raped. Manji describes how the story challenged her to ask questions about her Islamic faith.

-----

Irshad Manji brings her signature voice of the Obama generation— global in outlook, practical in approach and dedicated to finding common ground in a fractured world - to the stage. As professor of leadership at New York University's school of public service, Irshad inspires young people to practice ethics, values and virtues — such as courage and integrity in times of crisis and corruption. - Harry Walker Agency

Irshad Manji is director of the Moral Courage Project at New York University, which aims to develop leaders who will challenge political correctness, intellectual conformity, and self-censorship. She is also the internationally best-selling author of The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim's Call for Reform in Her Faith. She created the acclaimed PBS documentary "Faith Without Fear" which chronicles her journey to reconcile Islam with human rights and freedom. She also founded Project Ijtihad, which won the Youth Global Leader award from the World Economic Forum for its global campaign to popularize Islams own tradition of critical thinking. Irshads columns appear frequently in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Times of London.

  • The dumb-asses cheer along with her question of "who are you to question my religion"

Yeah, dumb. Blind faith is blind.

  • WHAT THE HELL are these people thinking?

She says "how dare you question my religion?" and all those people go WOW!

How can anyone NOT QUESTION things like these? Is it respect? Is it multiculturalism? What difference does it make where the injustice takes place? It's a crime anyway and anyone that gives the excuse of "being of another culture" to these people has no sense of justice or responsibility.

  • @mahmood2103 So you are proud to justify rape and then punish the victim of the rape?

  • check out my video's!!

  • Sounded like Hatred speech. Doesn't show peace in her voice.

  • "tell the story of a 17 year old Muslim girl in Nigeria" Actually if like me, you graduated with a degree in Education, you'd know that illiteracy is the cause of many problems. In India Hindu men, within martial abuse, throw Acid on their wifes, we don't say its Hinduism we say its illiteracy.

  • GIVE IT UP ALREADY WOMAN! she doesnt even know what shes talking about, she thinks she shits out diamonds. Lol, as if she hasnt been paid money to put on a performance like this...

    SHAME ...

  • Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Keynesianism: all ideas are on the table.

  • This isn't Islam, it's some boneheads attempting to interpret Islam incorrectly. People just love to attack Islam when they catch a Muslim doing the wrong thing. Many cultures have distorted Islam and they should be condemned, not the religion.
