It is a sad irony that Porter Wagoner ended his set at Ralph Stanley's Hills of Home Festival with "Long Journey Home" - he passed away within five months. Porter performed this song with a gusto which disguised his own frail health, even throwing in a trademark cornball story about Bashful Cousin Oswald.
Backed up by Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, Porter sounds as great as ever in what was one of his last performances.

Porter Wagoner. He was one of my favorites.

sadly I have had the good fortune to spend time with Oswald, Porter and Dr. Ralph....now they are rapidly dwindling away ....be sad when they are all gone.
