http://www.themattmaherstory.com -- "I'm That Guy"

We made this video as a trailer to spread the word about the website above -- the story of Matt Maher. It serves a dual purpose.

First, it is a tool of prevention to help combat drunk driving by understanding the fact that "decisions determine destiny." In conjunction with the South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance and the HERO Campaign, you will see the "I'm That Guy: The Presentation" that was given to over 7,000 high school and college students by Matt prior to his incarceration.

Second, it is a story of redemption through God's grace and a family's forgiveness. You will see the "I'm That Guy: The Blog" which are Matt's daily thoughts delivered from prison. Matt's personal journals are an eye-opener, and we hope that you may be encouraged in knowing that we can count on our God through every trial.

Please join Matt on his journey at www.themattmaherstory.com.

  • forgiveness....such a perplexing and powerful word that sets us free

  • Nothing can undo a senseless tragedy like this, but sometimes 1 tragedy can spark something powerful. Continue to honor Hort Kap's memory and family, Matt. You can't undo the past but you are helping to change the future. God bless you.

  • I cry when I watch this. I don't think I have cried over a video in years.

  • @kissinglilacs AND Musical Matt's last name is pronounced Marr not Mayhur

  • @kissinglilacs Different Matt Maher. The musician has grey hair. this one shaved his head. cheers.

  • Matt Maher, I respect your music, your heart's desire, and we all love and forgive you. I think you need help. You can't base the man's death on good works. You'll never able to redeem the past.

  • @rfburnhertz Thank you for such a candid expression of your heart as it relates to the loss of your brother. It's refreshing to read of your perspective. Can you imagine the depth of healing that might transpire for those on both sides of these kinds of tragedies if an acceptance of human fallibility and a willingness to genuinely forgive were the universal norm? But you've gone beyond that ideal with a sincere concern for the perpetrator's wellbeing. Beautiful.

  • My little brother, 21 at the time, was killed but by a drunk driver as he walked home from a 7-11 across the street from his apartment.

It's a life long, almost daily spot of gray disbelief that my brother is dead.

I just don't get use to it, though it's been 20 years.

I've never been angry at the lady who killed him.

Just like me, she has to live with this the rest of her life.

While I wish my brother were here, I don't want her to suffer all of her life and I don't want to live in anger.

  • There are no words that come in mind after that... I hope that this story will have some effect on ppl allthoug, sadly as so many storyes before, this one wont change how so many ppl make the wrong decision but i hope that it will!... As so many before this comment have said... Keep going strong and alltoug it might sounds wrong or weird, Im sorry for you buddy... this is a heavy thing to bear on your heart! Keep on spreading your story!
