Is it not possible to express yourself without knowing the theory? I think it is possible my friend. Some have the soul in their finger tips and can express their soul without calculated keys. Thanks for listening.

and actually, you can, it's just a lot more difficult to establish a tonal center with a half diminished chord.
and technically, true, 100% modal playing in its real original form doesnt concern tonal playing, but modal playing.

only the locrian mode has a tritone in the root triad.

he didn't say phrygian because no one uses phrygian. Can't establish tonal center when the 1 triad has a tritone :O
