This is on behalf of 5 girls. Mamta, Savita, Renu, Nisha and Sheetal.
They live with their parents in Haathi Paon - a tiny village, 10 kms from Mussoorie.
The youngest is in 7th class and the eldest is in her last year of college. They are extremely motivated to do well and become financially independent in the future.
As a family they cannot afford health care, basic services and cannot even afford a gas cylinder for cooking. Most of their money goes on surviving and the rest is forcibly kept aside for their education. The eldest- Mamta gives tuition's to a couple of young boys in the area to contribute to running the household and make ends meet.
We have followed the lives of these girls for the past 7 years and there is no doubt that they are committed to finishing their education and are committed to ensure a more secure future for themselves and their family.
They spend roughly rupees 3000 per month on all their schooling expenses which includes uniforms, tuition fee, books and travel. We would want to take care of this amount for them systematically in the form of a grant.
With an NGO 'Earth Matters Foundation' which is a registered Non Profit in Delhi, an education fund has been setup for them. www.earthmattersfoundation.org
We'll need all the support we can get to help them all get a good education.
We're are also looking for part contributions, so any amount no matter how small will help! Donation in kind is also accepted - books that will expand their world, clothes and shoes they can use in winters or anything else that might be useful for them.
To contribute towards the fund please write to me for details.
Hope we can work something out for the family together.
