Haunted Mansion - Madame Leota Recreation

I'm considering creating a "virtual walkthru" of Disney's Haunted Mansion. Unlike much of what is already on YouTube, my goal is to show everything from the perspective that this is not an attraction, but a real haunted house. This means clean sound without any tourists (or their chatter) in the video.

This also means finding quality video footage, isolated sound files and, in some cases, recreating scenes by combining both video and still images. Here is my first attempt at recreating a scene -- in this case, Madame Leota's crystal ball. Hopefully, I'll be able to stabilize the face from the original footage, and create some interesting pans of the room with the instruments floating around.

Everything was done in Photoshop CS3. BTW: The candle flame was my addition, as Disney uses light bulbs in the attraction.

*Anyone with hires photos of the Mansion - inside or out - please email me if you would be willing to forward or link me your photos to be included in the full "production." Ideally, photos at least 1600 pixels wide will provide the opportunity to pan the images artistically.

It's a shame that the face bounces a little near the end, but apart from that little hiccup it looks great!

Agreed. That was in the original footage I captured and has yet to be fixed.

stabilizing is an easy process, I do all the time in Digital Fusion.

But even better would be to un-stabilize the wig and attach it to the face.

A bit of refraction would be cool too, but would only be really noticeable if the camera was dollying past the table and targeting on the crystal ball.

A 3D app would be the best choice for that, even though comping apps now include 3D engines, nothing beats a real 3D app: LightWave, Max, XSI, Maya...
