This is a tutorial explaining how I pick locks. There are basically two strategies around, one listening to the sound, The other waiting for a fast falling speed of the tumbler. I don't use any of them. My reactions are too slow to become aware of the right sound soon enough. Waiting for the slow falling speed may actually work, but I don't use it neither.

What I am focusing on is the rising speed of the tumbler and my impression is that it is random, depending just on the lock difficulty and the character's security skill and his agility (maybe his speed and intelligence as well).

I always try to fix a tumbler only when I see it is rising slowly. You'll get more information in the video footage. You will also see me fail -- of course that fail is fully intended just to show that at any other rising speed than the slowest one the lockpick will break. (-;

  • this actually works! thanks!

  • @09bradonp you're welcome.

  • That's EXACTLY what I do. Good job man. However, the lock's difficulty, or your skill levels, have nothing to do with how often the pin moves up slowly. I find it's completely and utterly a random occurance, and I seriously doubt the designers of the game put that much thought into lockpicking. It's simply tough to do without a quick reaction time. I think you'll be much happier with Skyrim's lockpicking system.

  • @SmokyOwl Thanks for your comment. So far I only have picked the one lock in the intro, and my feeling is that the Skyrim lockpicking is more probabilistic and skill-based, which is good.

  • @SmokyOwl I like that.

  • Finally get it, thanks!

  • Good stuff man!

  • i prfer this system to skyrim. skyrim is just trial and error this requires some skill.

  • The lock picking in this game really takes a long time and the game is long enough without spending 10 to 15 minutes picking locks.

  • Nice!!

  • now I feel kind of stupid for wasting 30 lockpicks on a hard lock

  • @th4970 agility is fun? get a life and go bitch and some wannabe friends instead of random strangers on youtube

  • @philquinnster

    I haven't twisted anything. You should stop your stupid whining, I imagine you sound like a squeling pig when you whine in person. I have nothing more say to you, except that agiliti is fun.
