@lonkylaine lol huh?there wasn't a player in his time or since who carried the puck up the ice with the speed that coffey did.He had a cannon from the point and was incredible on the power play.he was THE prmiere offensive dman of the 80's and 90's.Gretz and Lemieux had nothing too do with his speed and his pin point accuracy on his passes.Coffey was a stud theres no doubt!!!

Tommy Soderstrom was the goalie for the Islanders. That was the Islander's home opener
where they debuted those terrible fisherman unis.
Also, this was Howie Rose's first game doing Tv play by play for the Isles, after Jiggs McDonald had left after the previous season. 13 seasons and still kickin'!
Also did you know the Isles did not even acknowledge the fact that Lemieux had reached 500 goals? They din't make an announcement or put something up on the jumbotron or anything.
