@amazinchiik i disagree, music, just like books, TV, film, or really anything has a level of quality that can be judged. the problem like you said though is bias, some people just flat out an entire genre and think it sounds like crap and some people will love it no matter what. if someone has a neutral open mind however they can say if song was done well and with talent or not. your right, its their opinion though, and people do disagree, but for the most part a general consensus arises

@Billabromitis That's unfortunate for them, their is soooo much good music out RIGHT NOW and over the last 10 years [especially hip hop amusingly enough].
But so much great stuff out their right now!! Freelance Whales, Bon Iver, Foster the People, Foals, Cut Copy, Temper Trap, My Morning Jacket, Telekinisis...ugh so much great stuff!!!
Though I do respect Classic Rock, without that [and the people before them] we wouldn't have the bands we have today!

Guys you do realize that music is an opinion right? There is no such thing as bad or good music in fact. It's all opinion in the 1800's this would be considered bad music since it wasn't opera. So don't say that hip hop r&b or pop is bad because it's not the type of music you like. Good music is in the ear of the beholder...
