Spring Peeper at Pickering Creek Audubon Center in early April, 2009. Common all over the Delmarva peninsula. Typically identified by the very distinctive Peep-peep call and most frogs have a brown X marking on their back, although individuals vary. It's typically the first frog to start calling in early spring as soon as February. After the male's call attracts a female, she lays up to 1,200 eggs singly on submerged vegetation.

The "Peepers" came out four nights ago, in Central Jersey.

I'd love to know how you managed film that Peeper, peeping. Usually, if you get too close, they'll all go silent and hide.

  • hey check out my spring peeper vid on my channel...theyre froglets...and its the last video :) very cool
