Scramble Spirits is an impressive shoot-em-up for the Master System developed by SEGA. It features a two player co-operative mode. Unfortunately the levels are quite short and it's rather easy compared to most shoot-em-ups. It also suffers from a lot of flicker due to the Master System's sprite limitations and some occasional slowdown. Despite this it is quite a fun and fast-paced game.

I highly recommend using a controller with turbo fire since the game does not provide automatic firing for you - I used a Competition Pro Mega Drive gamepad.

This is the fourth time I've played the game and the first time I've completed it, so don't expect a flawless run. I get shot down quite a lot and use continues. Continues are limited though so you can only die so many times before it's Game Over.

  • Seeing this has brought back a lot of childhood memories. Thank you. ^_^

  • @LordSturm No problem :-) I didn't have this game when I was a kid but I did have a Master System.

  • The arcade version is more challenging though and you can actually use your planes as bombs. No flicker either. I recommend giving that a try :)

  • @Soukyugurentai I will take a look at it. Thanks
