Unfortunately, it can't be helped. Functionally, the ruan is a guitar and fills the same purpose, like the yueqin takes the role of the mandolin in Chinese music.
When they call a yueqin a moon guitar, that's worth getting excited about. The yueqin doesn't do any of the guitar tasks.
