St. Lunatics are a hip hop group from St. Louis, Missouri formed by Nelly, Ali, Murphy Lee, Kyjuan and City Spud. Slo'Down left the group after a dispute.
The group was formed in 1993 and came out with their local hit, "Gimme What U Got". The group thought it would be easier for Nelly to get signed than the whole group. In 2000 Nelly got signed to Universal Records. Then got the rest of the group signed. While Nelly was working on his solo album Country Grammar, City Spud was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery. After Nelly's breakthrough success in 2000, the St. Lunatics released their debut album Free City in 2001 with hits such as "Summer in the City" and "Midwest Swing". Ali released his solo album Heavy Starch in 2002 and Murphy Lee released his solo album Murphy's Law in 2003. Murphy has now launched his own label "UC-Me Entertainment" and is currently promoting his new artists. In 2009, the St. Lunatics were reportedly working on a new album to be released in the summer of 2009, and while the album was reported as being indefinitely pushed back around that time, it is now back on track for a late 2010 release. The first track "St. Lunatics" was already leaked in early March. A second track leaked is "Get Low 2 da Flo". The first official single released is "Money Talks" featuring Birdman. It was previously tweeted that the St. Lunatics City Free album will be released November, 16 2010 but in a recent interview with Nelly the album will be released the first quarter of 2011.
